Human resource development (HRD) plays a very important role in achieving Lean Manufacturing (efficient operations without “muda”) and upgrading manufacturing processes through digital transformation (DX) and green transformation (GX).
These days, it is getting more necessary for businesses to increase productivity and reduce CO2 emissions at the supply chain level in order to increase their global competitiveness. Therefore, AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC) and The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) have been supporting the provision of related trainings and courses not only to employees of Japanese and local firms but also to local students in collaboration with local training/educational institutions with supports from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan.
Yet, to accelerate streamlining and upgrading supply chains, it is essential to overcome some challenges to get more engagement from various firms including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and connect skilled individuals with supporters to drive concrete actions and investments after capacity building.
In the ASEAN-Japan Human Resource Development Forum, AMEICC and AOTS in conjunction with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), The Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO) and The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) would like to introduce pioneering activities and supports from the public institutions, and deepen the discussion among experts in order to facilitate Lean, DX and GX through human resource development in the ASEAN region.
